Important

Party-specific ballot

If you voted in one party’s March primary, you must vote in that same party’s runoff

Can I vote in both elections? Yes! The May 2 and May 26 elections are completely separate. If you’re a registered Bexar County voter, you can vote in both. You do not need to re-register between elections. You also do not need to have voted in the March primary to vote in the May 26 runoff.

What to Bring

Texas requires a valid photo ID to vote. Accepted forms include:

Don’t have a photo ID? You can still vote. Sign a Reasonable Impediment Declaration at the polling location and show a supporting document like a utility bill, bank statement, or government mail with your name and address.

Every Voter Counts

Accessible Voting in Bexar County

Every polling location in Bexar County is required to be physically accessible and equipped with accessible voting technology. You do not need to provide proof of a disability to receive assistance. Just ask.

Curbside Voting

If you cannot enter the polling place, a poll worker will bring the ballot to your car. Look for the designated curbside parking spot with a phone number to call when you arrive. Tip: If you plan to vote curbside alone, call the polling location ahead of time so they’ll expect you.

Accessible Voting Equipment

Every polling place has at least one accessible voting machine that supports headphones, large text, high contrast displays, and other assistive features. You can vote independently and privately — no one else needs to see your ballot.

Assistance at the Polls

If you need help reading, marking, or understanding the ballot, you can bring someone to help you. Your assistant can be anyone you choose except your employer, your employer’s agent, or a union officer. You can also request help from election workers on site.

Language Assistance & Interpreters

If you don’t speak English or communicate with sign language, you may bring an interpreter to help you communicate with election officials and translate the ballot. If you’re deaf and don’t have an interpreter, contact the Bexar County Elections office before Election Day to request ASL assistance.

Your Rights as a Voter

  • You do not need to provide proof of a disability to request assistance or curbside voting
  • Your assistant must take an oath not to influence your vote and to mark the ballot exactly as you direct
  • It is illegal for anyone assisting you to try to influence your vote or tell anyone how you voted
  • If you choose your own assistant (not a poll worker), no one else is allowed to watch you vote
  • All polling locations must have ground-floor access, 32-inch-wide doorways, curb cuts or ramps, and handrails on stairs
